Not just parody, intelligent parody

This movie has been a long time coming for me, from the moment it was first mentioned, through the agonising wait between order and dispatch, right up to only part of my merchandise arriving. But all I can say is it was well worth the wait.

Actually, I can say more than that. I can talk about the unusual plot. I wouldn't go so far as to say the plot was original - if it were, it just wouldn't be Trek. But it's pleasantly twisted and subverted in a way that you won't find elsewhere. And it's the funniest thing I have seen in quite some time. It's 47 giggles a minute. And on rewatching, I'm spotting even more in-jokes and visual gags. The titles in particular were a pleasant surprise.

The animation was impressive and although there were a large number of ghosts, I have put that down to playing NTSC on a video/TV that is designed for PAL. And any other slight glitches were perfectly understandable when you consider that it wasn't done with ILM's budget. If anything, it's surprising it looks as good as it does.

My only grumble is with the voice impersonations which varied greatly. Some were spot on (bad unintentional pun there) but some were unrecognisable to me, though I must admit I can't claim to be the world's authority on The Next Generation.

All in all, a real class act. Can I give it 47 stars? Pleeeeeease :0) (And the rating is honest! Not quite perfect, but waaaay better than a mere 80%)
